Ram is gearing up for the grand unveiling of its latest pickup truck. Just recently, the brand dropped a tantalizing teaser video across its social media platforms, hinting at a big announcement scheduled for Wednesday, May 10. The intriguing question that remains is what Ram has in store for us.
The brief, nine-second video snippet above commences with a dusty cloud billowing across a desert terrain. It swiftly transitions to a scene where an individual peers through a set of binoculars, followed by a return to the hazy cloud, where the gleaming headlights of a concealed truck emerge, hurtling toward the camera at high speed. Accompanying this visual spectacle is the unmistakable growl of an engine, underscoring the sense of power. The video crescendos with the compelling message, “A New Force Is Touching Down,” alongside the all-important date.
While Ram has kept their cards close to the chest, the most plausible anticipation revolves around a new powertrain offering for the company’s half-ton pickup trucks. The leading speculation points toward a variant of the Hurricane twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine, a powerplant already in use in the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer lineup. This engine boasts a base configuration delivering 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque, while an even more potent high-output version pushes the limits with 510 horses and 500 pound-feet of torque. It’s worth noting that both iterations of the Hurricane engine are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Nevertheless, it’s also conceivable that Ram might have an entirely different revelation up its sleeve. There’s a slim possibility that it could mark the return of the long-rumored mid-size Dakota or introduce another iteration of the formidable Hellcat-powered Ram TRX. While the latter scenarios seem less likely, the veil of secrecy will only be lifted this Wednesday, leaving us all eagerly awaiting the big reveal. Stay tuned for more updates.
